A trip devoted to enjoy all the attractions in and nearby Panama City, a modern metropolis that still holds some of its old enchanting history! Visit the city and its most famous landmarks such as the history “Casco Antiguo” and some of the first and recent locks at the fascinating Panama Canal, the old trace of the train ride and the tribe of Emberá where you can feel you go back in time as to when Christopher Columbus set foot in the Americas! This package is excellent to combine with days in mountain (Boquete) or beach areas (Bocas del Toro, Chiriqui or other, or with a trip to Costa Rica). Please consult us for a customized tour!

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Panama and transfer to Hotel

On your arrival at the airport in Panama City (PTY), our driver will welcome you and will transfer you to your hotel. Transfer time 30m approx.~ Overnight at Hotel Central 4* for three nights – 1 Deluxe room. Meals: None

Day 2: Panama City Tour & Miraflores Locks

This morning, meet your guide and start your sightseeing expedition of Panamas amazing capital which was founded in 1519. The captivating backdrop of skyscrapers, noble mansions and green hills will surely fascinate you. The tour begins with a trip to the old town Casco Antiguo. Here you find some of the oldest architecture and buildings of the modern city. The area is known as Casco Viejo or Casco Antiguo. During the tour you will see many unique colonial buildings. Some of those are still largely original and others are nicely and colorfully restored. The historic Casco Antiguo is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has become the center of art, design and cultural development. Many new bars, roof top terraces, restaurants and hotels have opened here. Later on a drive down the Causeway will surprise you with an amazing view of the Panama City skyline before taking you to the Miraflores Locks. Here you will gain a first insight into the inner workings and dimensions of the famous Panama Canal. The viewers terrace offers a unique view of the locks and the ships a through the locks on their way to the Pacific or Atlantic. The Panama Canal is one of the most important waterways in the world. Each year around 14,000 ships are transiting, that is about six percent of the worlds trade. In its museum you will learn many interesting facts about the Canal. Day 3: Visit to Emberá Indian Village

Go back in time on this tour! You will be picked up at your hotel and travel northeast to Curutú. There, you will change the bus for small dugout canoes that will take you up the Rio Chagrés and along a fascinating jungle backdrop. In the village of the Emberá Indians, you will gain authentic insights into a culture that has inhabited this land for over a millennium, long before the Europeans discovered the new continent. The original traditions and way of life will take you back centuries. You will receive some interesting information about the culture and you will see a beautiful folklore show. At noon you will be served a simple typical lunch, mostly consisting of fish and patacones (fried plantains), before heading back to the city. Duration: 7 hours approx. ~ Difficulty: Easy. Day 4: Train Ride Panama Canal, San Lorenzo & Agua Clara Expansion Panama Canal

Experience a historic train passage from Panama City to Colón in the preserved original railway cars. The ride lasts about 1 hour and will take you through the jungles along the Panama Canal. The railway has a long history from 1855 to the 1900’s. Since 2001, the railway is back in use and a one-of-a-kind attraction. Following the historic ride, we will visit the Panama Canal Expansion Observation Center in Agua Clara, which shows you how the new Panama Canal lock system is working. It opened in June 2016. The current building has now on both sides of the waterway new access roads, as well as larger water-saving locks. Afterwards a beautiful drive will take you to the San Lorenzo Fort. Treasures from Peru were collected and sent en route to Spain from this 15th century fort. The ruins are located in the middle of the jungle and encompass a series of forts, castle buildings, fortifications and walls that surround the bay. Overnight at Hotel Central 4* – 1 Deluxe room. Day 5: Transfer to Tocumen Airport

Depending on your flight schedule, our driver will meet you at the lobby of your hotel and will transfer you to the international airport Tocumen to take your flight back home. Transfer time 30 minutes approx.~ Come back soon to enchanting Panama!
