Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica and transfer to Los Angeles Cloud forest

On your arrival at the airport in San Jose, our driver will welcome you and will take you to the mountain zone of Los Angeles Cloud Forest, one of Costa Rica’s best keep secrets! Transfer time: 1.5h approx.~ Overnight at Villa Blanca Hotel 4* for two nights – 1 Superior Casita. Meals: B

Day 2: Cloud Forest Birdwatching Tour and Night Walk Tour

In company of a certified guide, you will go on a 2-hours walk to spot local species, including endemic birds such as the Orange-bellied Trogon, Coppery headed Emerald Elvira, and dozens of others. With approximately 906 recorded bird species in Costa Rica, the country boasts one-tenth of the species of the world’s total bird population. Species such as the Scarlet Macaws and the Quetzals, mainly seen from Mid-February through May, are protected in the National Parks & Nature Reserves of the country. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the self-guided trails of the property. Duration: 2h.~ Difficulty: Easy In the late evening explore the mountain cloud forest at night, one of life’s most amazing adventures. This is a primal world rarely seen by visitors to other parts of Costa Rica with night time photography opportunities and up-close contact with some of the most colorful and fascinating creatures to be found anywhere in the world. Day 3: Los Angeles Cloud Forest to La Fortuna

Morning at leisure to explore the self-guided trails of the property and enjoy a relaxing time. Around midday, we will transfer you to La Fortuna, a village located in northern Costa Rica and home of the impressive Arenal volcano. Transfer time: 2h approx.~ The afternoon is at leisure. Enjoy the hotel’s own thermal pools! Overnight at Hotel Volcano Lodge 4* – 1 Superior room. Meals: B, D

Day 4: Birdwatching by Lake Arenal and Hanging Bridges

This is an early morning wake up but since there are a reported 840 species of birds found in Costa Rica, you are bound to leave this tour having seen plenty of amazing birdlife! Our expert birdwatching guide will find the perfect location for catching a glimpse of some of the best bird life in the world. The elusive tropical birds of Costa Rica are best spotted in the first hours of the morning. Our nature guide will take you on a hike, providing interesting facts about Costa Rica nature and the different birds that live here. You will see a wide-array of exotic birds from toucans, parrots, Montezuma Oropendolas, colorful tanagers and parakeets. addition, you will be rewarded with wonderful views to the impressive volcano and Lake Arenal. Duration: 4h.~ Difficulty: Easy Afternoon enjoy visiting a beautiful, environmentally-friendly nature project located near the Arenal Volcano. There are trails and bridges that bring you as close as you could ever hope to get to the birds, flowers, and the lush vegetation of this primary rainforest. Once you are on walking along, you will be able to admire the great diversity of flora and fauna typically found in the tropical rain forest and also have the opportunity to see many different birds and plant species for approx. 2.5 hrs. Day 5: Arenal Sloth Tour

Go on an adventure to find our lazy friend: the sloth, an iconic symbol of Costa Rica’s amazing rainforest wildlife! With its permanent smile you may see them sleeping high up in the tree tops or moving sloooowly through the branches happily eating leaves. The afternoon is at leisure to book an optional tour or spend a relaxing time enjoying the premises of your hotel. Duration: 2h.~ Difficulty: Easy Overnight at Hotel Volcano Lodge 3* – 1 Standard room. Meals: B

Day 6: Transfer to Tamarindo Beach

Today you will be transferred to the beautiful beach of Tamarindo in Guanacaste. From simple beginnings as a quiet fishing village, Tamarindo has developed into one of the most popular destinations in the Guanacaste province. This town supports a stunning white sand beach, a range of accommodations, and a number of bars and restaurants. The main boulevard includes various boutiques and art galleries. Transfer time 5h approx.~ Overnight at Hotel Capitan Suizo 4* for three nights – 1 Superior room. Meals: B

Day 7: Boat tour to Palo Verde National Park

In this excursion, we will take you through back roads, sugar cane fields, local towns, see the locals digging up the sand used for the concrete… An unforgettable cultural experience. Arrive at an elderly “Casona" a beautiful old house that belonged to 3 former presidents of Costa Rica… This venerable construction will tell the story of the Guanacaste cowboys or "sabaneros" who lived way before cars, cell phones or internet by the midst of the 1800s in a faraway era of colonial Costa Rica. We will then get in a covered motor boat (shared with other guests) through the Tempisque River and will cruise Palo Verde National Park looking for wildlife such as monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas, all kind of exotic birds, bats... Enjoy of some of our most precious traditions such as the “oxoperated sugar mill” (trapiche) where they grind the cane with oxen. Freshly cane juice will be offered to you to taste. Day 8: At leisure in Tamarindo

Day at leisure at the beach! Enjoy the amenities of your hotel and the refreshing waters of the Pacific Ocean. As optional we recommend a half day cruise to relax and do some snorkel or a fun, safe kayak tour. Please enquiry for rates! Overnight at Hotel Capitan Suizo 4* – 1 Superior room. Meals: B

Day 9: Transfer to Liberia Intl. Airport

Today we will provide a private transfer to the International Airport in Liberia to take your flight back home. Transfer time ~1h15m approx.~ Come back soon to Costa Rica, Pura Vida!
