From the Central Valley to the northern highlands Pacific Coast and ending in the lush Osa Peninsula, you will spend a wonderful time in the rainforest, mangroves and beaches encountering up close what Costa Rica is really famous for: its incredibly diverse wildlife and exotic nature. Truly a small paradise for nature and wildlife lovers!

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica and transfer to Hotel

On your arrival at the airport in San Jose (SJO), our driver will welcome you and will transfer you to your hotel. Transfer time 30m approx.~ Overnight at Hotel Rincon del Valle 3* for one night – 1 Deluxe room (2 Full size-beds). Meals: None

Day 2: Transfer to Boca Tapada

Time for breakfast and then transfer north-east to Boca Tapada, a small village near the Maquenque National Wildlife Refuge. The Maquenque Lodge, your home for the next two nights is located in Boca Tapada inside the Maquenque Eco Preserve in the Northern Territory of San Carlos. Surrounded by tropical rainforests, and bordering the Majestic San Carlos River, this area has become known as a unique destination for wildlife observation, unique birding, and adventure tours. Transfer time 3.5 hours approx.~ Overnight at Maquenque Ecolodge for two nights – 1 bungalow. Meals: B, L, D

Day 3: Safari tour in Kayak and Night Walk Tour

Enjoy a delicious breakfast and get ready to discover the richness of flora and fauna provided by the rainforest of the Tres Amigos river. By kayak, explore and discover exotic animals like a crocodile, tortoise, iguanas, monkeys and more. During this tour, our naturalist guides will explain how to paddle and some safety regulations, in addition, they will provide interesting information about the region and the species that you have seen. Duration: 2 hours ~ Difficulty: Easy In the late evening, it is time to explore the rainforest from another point of view. We will visit the gardens and forest of the property where we can spot the nightlife of some animals such as alligators, frogs, nocturnal birds, snakes, and spiders also, we will experience the peace and sounds that the nature gives us. Duration: 2 hours ~ Difficulty: Easy Overnight at Maquenque Ecolodge for two nights – 1 bungalow. Meals: B, L, D

Day 4: Rainforest Tour and Transfer to La Fortuna

This morning, depart to the tropical rainforest within the hotel’s property to begin a trek of 3 km (about 2.5 hrs.). A daylight hike will provide another experience; with the help of our naturalist guide, you can observe a great variety flora and fauna in the area. We will also visit the Botanical Garden and Medicinal Garden. Duration: 2h.~ Difficulty: Easy Following this interesting hike, we transfer you to La Fortuna, a village located in northern Costa Rica and home of the impressive Arenal volcano. Transfer time 2h approx.~ Overnight at Hotel Lomas del Volcan 3* for three nights – 1 Standard bungalow. Meals: B

Day 5: La Fortuna Waterfall Hike

We will take you on a fun drive up a country road to the breath-taking 150-ft La Fortuna Waterfall. Once we arrive to the base of the extinct Cerro Chato Volcano, we’ll hike down to the bottom of one of the largest waterfalls in the Northern Zone. The hike is about 300 steps to get down a well-maintained path, and 300 steps to get back up! It’s quite a good workout! While you are down there, and if conditions warrant, you can swim in the crystalline pools that flow from the impressive waterfall and take advantage of some beautiful photo ops! Soak up the nature, birds, rainforest, and enthralling sounds and sites of this enchanting La Fortuna attraction. Duration: 4 hours ~ Difficulty: Easy. Overnight at Hotel Lomas del Volcan 3* – 1 Standard bungalow. Meals: B

Day 6: At leisure in La Fortuna

Day at leisure in La Fortuna. Optional activities such as hike in the Arenal Volcano, fun white-water rafting, biking in scenic landscapes, horseback riding, tasty chocolate tour among others are available. Enquiry with us for more information! Overnight at Hotel Lomas del Volcan 3* – 1 Standard bungalow. Meals: B

Day 7: Transfer to Manuel Antonio

Today continue with a shared transfer to Manuel Antonio in the Pacific Coast. Transfer time 5.5 hours approx.~ Famous for its National Park, the bustling little town of Manuel Antonio is located on the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica, very close to Quepos, known for its sport fishing and lively atmosphere. The region is a treasure for its biodiversity, attracting nature lovers, eco-travellers and adventurers. Overnight at Hotel Costa Verde 3* for three nights – 1 Studio. Meals: B

Day 8: Visit to Manuel Antonio National Park

The Manuel Antonio National park is one of the most famous in our country due to its wide variety of flora and fauna specimens. The park itself boasts 3 different trails that vary in grade from flat to very steep. On this Manuel Antonio tour, you will take is a flat and picturesque trail looping through the park making your course approximately 2 miles long. One of the highlights of this Manuel Antonio tour is that the park is home to 3 of the 4 existing monkey species in Costa Rica. Half way through the hike you will make leisure stop at the third beach located within the national park. You will have approximately 20 minutes to rest on the beach or play among the waves if you so choose. Throughout the hike you will be able to observe sloths, birds and reptiles as well as admire orchids, butterflies and tropical trees. Note: The Manuel Antonio Park is closed on Mondays. Duration: 3.5 hours ~ Difficulty: Easy Overnight at Hotel Costa Verde 3* – 1 Studio. Meals: B

Day 9: At leisure in Manuel Antonio

Day at leisure to enjoy the amenities of your hotel. There are plenty of optional fun, nature activities on land and water to choose! You may enjoy a relaxing cruise, “fly” in the canopy tree top with the zip line adventure, go for a horseback ride tour and more. Please enquiry for more information! Day 10: Manuel Antonio and transfer to Piedras Blancas

Enjoy breakfast and continue the journey, this time we transfer you further south to the Esquinas Rainforest Lodge, the perfect jungle retreat for ecotourism visitors seeking adventure off the beaten track. The lodge is surrounded by the dense wilderness of Piedras Blancas National Park in Costa Rica's remote southern zone… Overnight at Esquinas Rainforest Lodge – 1 Standard room. Meals: B, L, D

Day 11: Rio Coto Mangrove Tour

Go on a relaxing adventure and explore the mangroves of the Rio Coto estuary. An incredible array of wildlife such as howler, white-faced and squirrel monkeys as well as numerous species of waterbirds, parrots can be seen. The tour goes through the meandering mangrove swamp, where it is unlikely to encounter any other tourists and is preceded by a drive through the rainforest to Golfito including a stop at a beach for a picnic lunch and a swim in the warm waters of Golfo Dulce. Duration: 4h.~ Difficulty: Easy. Overnight at Esquinas Rainforest Lodge – 1 Standard room. Meals: B, L, D

Day 12: Birding and Wildlife Day Hike

The Esquinas forest is categorized as a “lowland tropical wet forest” and contains the highest density of trees (over 140 species per hectare) in Costa Rica and a total of 2.500 species of plants! There is a good chance to see many colourful birds, shiny butterflies, bizarre insects, frogs, or possibly monkeys, agouti-pacas, coatis, caimans, basilisks or even a wildcat. Our birding and wildlife hike departs after breakfast and you will be accompanied with one of the local guides. Overnight at Esquinas Rainforest Lodge – 1 Standard room. Meals: B, L, D

Day 13: Transfer to Golfito Airport and flight to San Jose

Today you will be transferred to Golfito airport to take your domestic flight to San Jose. On arrival you will be transferred to rest at your hotel. Overnight at Hotel Rincon del Valle 3* for one night – 1 Deluxe room (2 Full size-beds). Meals: None

Day 14: Transfer to San Jose Intl. Airport

Private transfer to the Intl. Airport in San Jose to take your flight back home. Transfer time 45m approx. ~ End of services. Come back soon to Costa Rica, Pura Vida!
