Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Nicaragua and transfer to Granada

On your arrival at the airport in Managua (MGA), our driver will welcome you and will transfer you to Granada, the Jewel of Nicaraguan Cities! Transfer time 45m approx.~ Overnight at Hotel Plaza Colon 3* sup for three nights – 1 Superior room. Meals: None

Day 2: Granada City Tour and Boat tour in Lake Nicaragua

Meet our guide to enjoy a great cultural experience in a guided city tour. Enjoy a ride in a traditional Horse drawn Carriage and visit places like the La Casa de los Tres Mundos: art gallery and cultural academy, the convent of San Francisco church, Iglesia La Merced, from its tower you will have great views of the city and other interesting historic landmarks. Duration: 3.5 hours approx. ~ Difficulty: Easy In the afternoon, meet again our guide and continue to Lake Nicaragua. Go on a relaxing boat cruise in the water canals of the Islets. See many species of birds and will see monkeys swinging from tree to tree on “Monkey Island”, all this with panoramic views to imposing Mombacho volcano. Day 3: Masaya Cultural Tour and Night visit to Masaya Volcano

We will visit the town of Masaya and its surroundings. First, we will visit Catarina to enjoy magnificent views to the Apoyo lagoon and San Juan de Oriente, where we visit a local workshop. Participate in the creation process of the beautiful souvenirs! Later, we take you to visit the Handicraft Market in Masaya city where you can enjoy the creativity and variety of Nicaraguan art at bargain prices. To end the tour, we will go for a nocturnal visit of the Masaya volcano, one of Nicaragua's most interesting and beautiful natural phenomena. Take a peek into the impressive crater currently displays gaseous activity and incandescent lava lake in its interior Note: Please note that due safety restrictions, visitors are only allowed to stay 15 minutes near the crater. Day 4: Transfer to San Jorge and Ferry to Ometepe Island

Today, we will transfer you south to San Jorge dock where you take a ferry to Ometepe Island, the world’s largest volcanic island in a freshwater Lake. Transfer time to San Jorge: 1.5 hours / Ferry duration: 1 hour approx. / Transfer to Hotel: 45 minutes approx. Overnight at Hotel San Juan de La Isla 3* - 1 Standard room. Meals: B

Day 5: Ometepe Island Tour

This morning we will take you to visit this fabulous island. We visit places like the “El Ceibo” the best archaeological and numismatic museum of Nicaragua. You will also visit the Charco Verde reserve, learn here the legend of Chico Largo and Mama Bucha while admiring the beautiful green puddle lagoon and trying to spot the elusive birds. The next spot on you tour will be Petroglyphs at Finca El Porvenir. These stones, found on the lower slopes of Maderas volcano on Ometepe, still bear the ornate carvings of the first indigenous settlers of Nicaragua. Enjoy the great views that Volcano Concepcion and Volcano Maderas have to offer. On the shores of Santo Domingo beach, you will then enjoy a typical Nicaraguan lunch before continuing to the “El Ojo de Agua”, a natural pool of clear water supplied by a river that originates from Concepcion Volcano, where you can go swimming and relaxing. Day 6: Transfer to Peñas Blancas Border and transfer to Rincon de La Vieja

Today, we transfer you to the docks in Ometepe Island to take a ferry back to mainland. On arrival, we will transfer you to Peñas Blancas border. After completing the custom formalities at both sides of the border, we will transfer you to Rincon de La Vieja following a road through rural Costa Rica flanked by fields and low-lying vegetation. Transfer time 1.5 hours approx.~ Overnight at Hacienda Guachipelin 3* for two nights – 1 Superior room. Meals: B

Day 7: Tubing Adventure and Rio Negro Hot Springs

Today, enjoy non-stop fun and excitement bouncing and splashing down 5 km (3 miles) of class 2 and 3 rapids in this narrow, rushing river of crystal-clear water. There are plenty of quiet pools along the way to appreciate the beautiful tropical scenery. Our special river tube rafts are designed with handles and protective bottoms. Guides go with you and ensure your safety. Part of your river tubing adventure includes riding trusty Costa Rican ranch horses along scenic trails through the forest to get to the river. Duration: 2.5 hours approx. ~ Difficulty: Moderate In the afternoon, gather again at the lobby of your hotel for a relaxing time in the Natural Hot Springs & Mud Baths of Rio Negro. Surrounded by a dense dry tropical forest, the Termales de Rio Negro area is beautiful and peaceful. The crystal-clear waters of the river flow near the 10 pools built on the riverbank, filled with thermal waters rich in minerals, naturally heated in the depths of the volcano. You can access the pools on both banks of the river thanks to two suspension bridges. Use the hot volcanic mud as a rejuvenating treatment on your body. When the mud dries, you can wash it in the cold waters of the river before entering the thermal water pools again. Day 8: Transfer to Tamarindo

Today we transfer you to the beautiful beach of Tamarindo in Guanacaste. From simple beginnings as a quiet fishing village, Tamarindo has developed into one of the most popular destinations in the Guanacaste province. This town supports a stunning white sand beach, a range of accommodations, and a number of bars and restaurants. The main boulevard includes various boutiques and art galleries. Transfer time 2h approx.~ Overnight at Hotel Tamarindo Diriá 3* for three nights – 1 Poolview room. Meals: B

Day 9: At leisure in Tamarindo

Day at leisure at the beach! Enjoy the amenities of your hotel and the refreshing waters of the Pacific Ocean. Optional tours such as surf, sport fishing, sailing, ATV tours among others can be arranged, please enquire with us! Overnight at Hotel Tamarindo Diriá 3* – 1 Poolview room. Meals: B

Day 10: Palo Verde Wetlands Tour

On this excursion, we will take you through back roads, sugar cane fields, local towns, see the locals digging up the sand used for the concrete… An unforgettable cultural experience. Arrive at an elderly “Casona" a beautiful old house that belonged to 3 former presidents of Costa Rica… This venerable construction will tell the story of the Guanacaste cowboys or "sabaneros" who lived way before cars, cell phones or internet by the midst of the 1800s in a faraway era of colonial Costa Rica. We will then get in a covered motor boat (shared with other guests) through the Tempisque River and will cruise Palo Verde National Park looking for wildlife such as monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas, all kind of exotic birds, bats... Enjoy of some of our most precious traditions such as the “oxoperated sugar mill” (trapiche) where they grind the cane with oxen. Freshly cane juice will be offered to you to taste. Day 11: Transfer to La Fortuna

Today, a shared van will transfer to La Fortuna, a village located in northern Costa Rica and home of the impressive Arenal volcano. Transfer time: 5.5 hours approx. Overnight at Hotel Casa Luna 3* for two nights – 1 Standard room. Meals: B

Day 12: Arenal Volcano National Park Hike and La Fortuna Waterfall

Today, visit the Arenal Volcano National Park, an iconic volcano! We’ll trek for about 1.2 miles through different scenarios. You will also find an incredible viewpoint close to the volcano where you’ll find yourself stepping on lava flows turned into stone and views of the Arenal Lake and the landscape around as no other spot in the area. Your nature guide will share with you catching and interesting information about the place, the hiding fauna among the trees and bushes and of course about this impressive volcano. Duration: 3 hours approx. ~ Difficulty: Moderate In the afternoon, we will take you on a fun drive up a country road to the breathtaking 150-ft La Fortuna Waterfall. Once we arrive to the base of the extinct Cerro Chato Volcano, we’ll hike down to the bottom of one of the largest waterfalls in the Northern Zone. The hike is about 300 steps to get down a well-maintained path, and 300 steps to get back up! It’s quite a good workout! While you are down there, and if conditions warrant, you can swim in the crystalline pools that flow from the impressive waterfall! Overnight at Hotel Casa Luna 3* – 1 Standard room. Meals: B

Day 13: Transfer to San Jose Airport and welcome to Panama City

Depending on your regional flight schedule (flight not included in rates), we transfer you to the Intl. Airport in San Jose to take your flight back home. Transfer time 3 hours approx. ~ On your arrival at the airport in Panama City (PTY), our driver will welcome you and will transfer you to your hotel. Transfer time 30m approx.~ Overnight at Hotel Magnolia Inn 2* sup for two nights – 1 Deluxe room. Meals: B

Day 14: Panama City Tour & Miraflores Locks

This morning, meet your guide and start your sightseeing expedition of Panamas amazing capital which was founded in 1519. The captivating backdrop of skyscrapers, noble mansions and green hills will surely fascinate you. The tour begins with a trip to the old town Casco Antiguo. Here you find some of the oldest architecture and buildings of the modern city. The area is known as Casco Viejo or Casco Antiguo. During the tour you will see many unique colonial buildings. Some of those are still largely original and others are nicely and colorfully restored. The historic Casco Antiguo is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has become the center of art, design and cultural development. Many new bars, roof top terraces, restaurants and hotels have opened here. Later, on a drive down the Causeway will surprise you with an amazing view of the Panama City skyline before taking you to the Miraflores Locks. Here you will gain a first insight into the inner workings and dimensions of the famous Panama Canal. The viewers terrace offers a unique view of the locks and the ships a through the locks on their way to the Pacific or Atlantic. The Panama Canal is one of the most important waterways in the world. Each year around 14,000 ships are transiting, that is about six percent of the worlds trade. In its museum you will learn many interesting facts about the Canal. Day 15: Flight to David and transfer to Boquete

Today, we transfer you to a domestic Airport to take a local flight to David Airport. On arrival, a private transfer will bring you to the small mountain village of Boquete. Time at leisure upon arrival. Flight duration: 1 hour approx. / Transfer David Airport to Boquete: 1 hour approx. Overnight at Hotel Riverside Inn 3* for two nights – 1 Jr. Suite. Meals: B

Day 16: The Pipeline Trail Hike and Hanging Bridges

This morning, enjoy trekking through remote virgin cloud forests. The Pipeline Trail is an easy-moderate hike that takes through the cloud forest and passes through two micro-climates, has various small wildlife, and is one of the best areas for the chance to see the Resplendent Quetzal, as well as numerous other birds. Duration: 3-4 hours approx. ~ Difficulty: Moderate In the afternoon, enjoy a unique opportunity to enjoy an elevated perspective of the biodiversity of Panama’s tropical cloud forest. You will go on a circuit of 6 suspension bridges covering a 4.5 km route through the treetops. The Bridges tour takes place within the private forest reserve, Rio Cristal, located in the Talamanca Mountain Range bordering La Amistad International Park (P.I.L.A.). You will be accompanied by a local guide who will help you know the lush flora and fauna of these protected forests. The suspension bridges range from 70 to 135 meters long and reach heights up to 75 meters above the ground. You will also go along 6 walking trails that measure from 185m to 1.5 km, reaching altitudes ranging from 1.660 to 1.827 m.s.n.m. The trails are of medium difficulty and can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. Duration: 3 to 3.5 hours approx. ~ Difficulty: Moderate. Overnight at Hotel Riverside Inn 3* – 1 Jr. Suite. Day 17: Coffee Tour and flight to Panama City

Coffee Tour and flight to Panama City This morning, enjoy an interesting coffee tour. On this tour, not only will you learn about the history of the coffee in Panama but also see the complete process and end with a cupping taste. Each coffee tour is kept small and semi-private for an in-depth and hands-on experience. As you walk the fields you will learn about growing and processing of the coffee plants. You will also visit the roasting house where you will sample different roasts to determine your preference. Some days include a full hands-on roasting experience, where you can make a bag of your custom flavor to purchase if you like! Take part in the process of bringing coffee from the cherry to the cup during an intimate in-depth and hands-on experience at a coffee estate along the beautiful slopes of Volcan Baru. Duration: 4 hours approx. ~ Difficulty: Moderate. In the early afternoon, we provide a ground transfer back to the airport in David for your domestic flight back to Panama City. Upon arrival, we transfer you to your hotel. Overnight at Hotel Magnolia Inn 2* sup for one night – 1 Deluxe room. Meals: B

Day 18: Transfer to Tocumen Airport

Depending your flight schedule, our driver will meet you at the lobby of your hotel and will transfer you to the international airport Tocumen to take your flight back home. Transfer time 30 minutes approx.~ Come back soon to enchanting Panama!
