Reaching the Irazú Volcano is quite easy as it is a relatively short and pleasant drive from San Jose. We begin ascending the summit of the Irazu Volcano, passing from coffee plantations (cabbage, potato, onion), to ferns. The next eruption can’t be predicted, but currently the only activity in the crater is from fumaroles. Enjoy a spectacular view of the massive crater with its mystical green lagoon surrounded by jagged rocks. On a clear day you can actually see both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans!
After touring the Irazu volcano, we will descend to visit the city of Cartago. Visit the ruins of the old Parish and the beautiful Virgin of the Angels Basilica that has large vaulted ceilings and exquisite examples of stained glass windows, a rich displays of carvings, statues and other pieces of art.
We are available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, CST during Winter time and MST during Summer Time,
